Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area is committed to combating poverty housing globally, while building locally.
To date we have helped build 25 homes in Mexico by tithing a percentage of all unrestricted donations.
In April 2010 we led a team of volunteers to build three homes in Nayarit, Mexico with the Habitat for Humanity Global Village Program. This program is designed to enable volunteers to gain an authentic experience of another culture whilst making a positive and lasting impact.
The team of mostly Jackson local volunteers built in the community of
La Penita de Jaltemba, located on the western coast of Mexico from Saturday, April 24 – Sunday, May 2.
The trip was led by the Habitat crew. Orientation, domestic transportation, simple accommodations, traditional/regional meals, cultural activities, and insurance were all included in the trip fee of $700.
From April 2nd – 10th 2011, another group took a trip to build homes on the western coast of Mexico.
