Flerida Mancia & children, Alvaro (13), Hannsheinz (12), Irving (10), Jennifer (8), & Steve (6)
Originally from El Salvador, Flerida is happy to live in Jackson because she can be near her aunt and it is a good place to raise her five children. She currently works at the Snake River Lodge and Spa in the housekeeping department. Flerida has often struggled to find affordable housing with sufficient living space for her children. Moving from a trailer with no heat to a motel room and now to a very expensive apartment, Flerida considers Habitat her salvation and is most excited that her children will have stability in their lives because of their new home.
Bonnie Jean Trefren& son, Caden (5)
Bonnie was born in Afton, lived in Colorado for a few years, and then moved to Bondurant to live with her parents. She and her son, Caden, have always resided in one-bedroom living quarters and have moved five times in the past six years. Bonnie works in Jackson as a dispatcher at the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, and the long commute from Bondurant left her very little time to spend with Caden. She recently relocated to Jackson but her rent is very high. Bonnie is most excited about the stability that owning a Habitat house will provide and not having to worry that her rent will increase.
Nelly Tzompa & children, Lulu (16), Sandra (13), & Jimmy (4)
Nelly moved from Mexico to Driggs, Idaho when she was seven years old. Her parents worked in Jackson but could not afford to live here so they commuted for many years. In 1996, Nelly began working at the Virginian, where she is now the Head Housekeeper and has been living in a small trailer on the property. Habitat has helped Nelly’s dream of giving her children a place to call home come true. Her son, Jimmy, is excited that he will have a house with stairs, and her daughters, Lulu and Sandra, are happy that they will finally be able to invite friends to their home.
Connie and Eloy Vazquez, daughter, Lesley (2), & Connie’s mother, Maria Vazquez
Connie moved from Mexico to Driggs, Idaho when she was fifteen years old. Eloy moved to Jackson from Tlaxcala, Mexico. He and Connie now have one daughter, Leslie, who is two years old. Connie works at Sunrise Lumber as an Accounts Payable Clerk, and Eloy works with a construction company. The family has found it very difficult to afford a comfortable living space in Jackson without roommates and didn’t think it would ever be possible until they applied for a Habitat home. Connie and Eloy are excited to realize their dream of owning an affordable home, not having to move, and feeling a sense of permanency in the community.
Habitat’s homes are available to all who meet our family selection criteria, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.
