Who Can Volunteer:
Anyone 14 years of age and older! No experience is necessary - we will teach you the skills you need that day. If you are not interested in working on the jobsite, there are a myriad of other ways you can get involved... in the office, on a committee, or in the ReStore.

Unfortunately, children under the age of 14 are not permitted on the jobsite for any reason due to insurance reasons. However, there are other ways that youth can get involved, like writing thank you notes, sticking address labels on post cards, or baking cookies for volunteers! Just ask and we'll find a task to suit a child's age and interests.

Work Shifts:
We usually work on Thursdays and Saturdays, however, there are times that we work five or six days a week. Check our volunteer page for specific work days.

Work shifts begin at 9:00 AM, when important instructions and safety information is provided. The workday ends around 4:30 and everyone's help is needed at the end of the day to clean up, which we usually start around 4:00PM.

What to Wear:
Boots with steel toes are recommended, though, at a minimum, close-toed or athletic shoes may be worn. Sandals are not permitted on the work-site. Do not wear clothing that you would prefer not to get muddy or permanently stained. As a precaution, avoid loose or baggy clothing. Dress according to the weather and wear sunscreen and a hat on sunny days or and warm layers on winter days.

When you Arrive:
Please sign in when you arrive at the site, sign the liability waiver and complete a volunteer information sheet. Remember to sign out when you leave.

Safety:
Safety is our first concern. A construction site can be a dangerous place. Please heed all safety instructions and use common sense. If you feel that a task is unsafe, or beyond your ability, please let us know before you start. Do not feel that you have to climb on high ladders or roofs if you are uncomfortable with heights. Power tools are for those experienced, or trained, in their use.

Quality:
Please sign in when you arrive at the site, sign the liability waiver and complete a volunteer information sheet. Remember to sign out when you leave.

Have Fun!
All tasks are important to the process. You may not get to 'pound nails' at the worksite, but tasks such as landscaping, painting, insulation and clean up are just as important, and can be a lot of fun. You may even get to go on a trip to tour the landfill!

Have Fun! Get to know the people working around you - thousands of wonderful and interesting people work with us each year!
