Habitat is launching a search for a replacement.  A job description and application details will be posted by January 10.  Applications will be due by January 27 and interviews will take place in early February.  The Board anticipates the new director will be announced in early March.

• Your current housing is too expensive, overcrowded, inadequate, or temporary
• You fall within our income limits (see table below)
• You can pay a mortgage of $650 a month
• You will invest at least 500 hours of sweat equity in construction work and classes
• One income earner is a permanent U.S. resident or citizen

If you have been thinking of getting involved with Habitat for Humanity, but weren’t sure how, check out these unique opportunities:

• Poinsettia Committee – Participate in our yearly winter fundraiser to raise money through poinsettia sales
• Global Village Committee - Help organize our yearly Mexico build trip for the spring to Tlaxacala, Mexico
• ReStore Committee – help the  Habitat ReStore grow.  If you have retail, business development or marketing experience, or simply love to shop in thrift stores, consider joining this committee.  The committee meets once a month for an hour and each member spends 1 -2 hours a month on a committee project.
• House Americorps NCCC volunteers – provide housing for 2 – 10 weeks for a group of young Americorps volunteers.

DIGS has set of goal of volunteering a total of 300 hours on Wednesday, August 24, Thursday, August 25, & Saturday, August 27.

Construction site volunteer hours are 9:00 am – 4:30 pm for all three days. Volunteers should bring a water bottle and make sure they arrive promptly at 9 am for a very important safety training.

**The first step to volunteer on one of these days is to sign up in advance by emailing  amanda@tetonhabitat.org or calling (307) 734-0828. Signing up is mandatory**

Following the DIGS Build on Saturday, August 27th, members will celebrate DIGS’ 2nd Anniversary with a BBQ and lawn games, sponsored by our local State Farm Insurance office.

What is DIGS?

DIGS is a group that brings together socially-conscious young locals to help Habitat for Humanity carry out its mission in Jackson.

How does DIGS help Habitat?

1) By RAISING AWARENESS of Habitat’s work in our community.

2) By RAISING FUNDS to help Habitat build houses for families in need.

3) By ENCOURAGING VOLUNTEERISM by actively recruiting and creating opportunities for volunteers.

What’s next and how can you get involved?

DIGS has committed to fulfilling 2,000 volunteer hours and raising $10,000 within the next year (which will be matched by State Farm!). Stay tuned for more build days the last Saturday of each month and other DIGS events!
