Habitat for Humanity Welcomes Three New Board Members

January 22, 2007 - Jackson Hole, Wyoming – Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area is pleased to announce the addition of Anne Ashley, Peter French and Chris Tice to its board of directors.

“We are excited to have Chris, Anne, and Peter joining us as Directors,” said Derek Schaefer, President of the Board of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area. “Each brings unique talents and a strong commitment to our mission of building decent, affordable housing in partnership with local families.”

Anne Ashley is a native of Jackson. She spent 12 years practicing law in Laramie, Wyoming, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, before returning to the Valley in 1995. Anne and her husband Steve own and operate the Valley Bookstore. She continues to practice law, often working as an advocate for children. Anne was a founding board member and President of the Public Education Coaltion, and is a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Anne serves on Habitat’s Family Selection Committee as its co-chair, and is also a family advocate. She joined the board in September 2006, and is a strong supporter of Habitat's role and mission. Anne loves the outdoors and especially enjoys hiking and fly fishing.

Peter French, his wife Cathy and their four children moved to Jackson in 2005 after spending a year in Jackson in 2001. Peter has spent many Thursdays working as a volunteer on the latest Habitat home which will be dedicated in February. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and holding an MBA from the University of Southern California, Peter has enjoyed a 20 year career in the commercial real estate industry and continues to be involved as an investor in both California and Teton County. He hopes to bring some of his real estate and finance experience to the Habitat board. The French’s are members of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church and Sam, Sarah, Claire, and Kristina are all enrolled in the Teton County School District.

Chris Tice grew up in Jackson and has been a resident of Wyoming for 42 years. He has owned and operated several home healthcare pharmaceutical companies from 1990 through 2006. He currently serves as a healthcare consultant. Chris is a member of the Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. Chris is a past Board Vice President for St. Johns Medical Center, was active in assisting with high school basketball, and recently completed Leadership Wyoming. He joined the board in September 2006 and is involved in the construction committee. Chris enjoys skiing, running, biking, hiking, tennis, fishing, and hunting.

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area builds simple, decent homes and sells them at cost with a no-interest loan to low-income families. Homeowners are chosen based on their need for housing, their ability to make a mortgage payment, and their willingness to invest 500 hours of ‘sweat equity’ into the construction of their home. Habitat homes are built primarily by volunteers and with the support of local donors.
