June 19, 2007-Jackson Hole, Wyoming - This
Wednesday, June 20, Habitat for Humanity will
begin hosting a late afternoon volunteer shift
that ends with burgers on the grill. Building &
Burgers will be held every Wednesday from 4 to 7
pm at 776 Morgan Lane in the Melody Ranch
Subdivision.
Building & Burgers is the brainchild of Trace
Wright, Habitat’s Construction Manager. “We want
to give those who work during the day an
opportunity to volunteer for a few hours and
take advantage of the long summer days,” said
Trace. “We hope that Building & Burgers will
attract new people who want to learn how to
build, meet other community-minded people and
have some fun.”
No prior building experience is necessary to
volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and there is
a job for everyone. To sign up for Building &
Burgers or for more information about
volunteering in general, call 734-0828 or go to
www.tetonhabitat.org.
Habitat for Humanity builds homes with low
income families in Teton County. Homes are built
by volunteers and are then sold to pre-selected
partner families with a no-interest, no-profit
mortgage. Homeowners are required to contribute
500 hours of their own “sweat equity” on their
home before they are allowed to move in. Habitat
also runs the Habitat for Humanity ReStore,
which sells used and surplus building supplies,
to help fund the building of Habitat homes.
