Local Contractor Contributing Time to Help Build Habitat for Humanity Home

JACKSON, Wyoming - March 30, 2005 - Teton Heritage Builders (THB), headquartered in Jackson, is donating a full day of labor to help build a new Habitat for Humanity home in Melody Ranch subdivision. The THB team will be on site on Saturday, April 2, and they hope to complete the construction of the frame for the home. The home is being built for a pre-qualified homeowner and is scheduled for completion in August of 2005.

Habitat for Humanity depends heavily on volunteers to help build homes in order to keep them affordable. It takes roughly 3,000 volunteer hours to construct one home, and Habitat plans to complete three homes this year. “We could not help families in need without the help of local volunteers,” says Terri Marino, Executive Director of Habitat. “When a group like Teton Heritage Builders comes out for one day, it tremendously improves our ability to finish a home on time, and our priority is to get our partner families housed as quickly as possible. We are thrilled to call them supporters.”

Heather Valovic, Marketing Director for THB explains that, “we have been looking for meaningful ways to contribute to the community and this project was a perfect fit with our team’s skills and the Habitat construction schedule.”

This Habitat home will be purchased by Kimberly Shindell. She and her two young daughters, Bean and McKinley, are excited that construction has begun on their new home. Kimberly cleans churches and houses for a living and depends on government-assistance to help cover the cost of her apartment. She is looking forward to the day when she can fully pay her own way and celebrates each reduction in her public assistance. When asked about what they look forward to doing in their new home, Bean and McKinley say it is running through the sprinkler on their new lawn.

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area builds and sells basic homes at cost with a no-interest loan. Homeowners invest 500 hours of sweat equity and save enough money to pay for closing costs prior to moving into their home. Habitat can only do its work with the generous support of donors and volunteers.

Teton Heritage Builders was founded in 1996 as an innovative full service home builder. Since that time THB has carved out a singular market niche with a creative blend of sophisticated construction acumen, aggressive scheduling and total quality management.
