Habitat for Humanity to host Women Build Event in the spirit of Mother's Day

JACKSON, Wyoming - May 4, 2004 - Ladies, it’s time to gather your hammers for Habitat’s first Women Build event of the year.

On Saturday, May 7, 2005, Habitat for Humanity will host Women Build, a day to celebrate the empowerment of women, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at 4176 Melody Ranch Drive. In honor of Mother’s Day, women of all ages are encouraged to work alongside a single mother who is building a home and a dream for her family.

This home will be purchased by Kimberly Shindell. She and her two young daughters, Bean and McKinley, look forward to moving into their new home this fall. The materials for this home were purchased with donations made to Habitat through last year’s Old Bill’s Fun Run for Charities. This is the fourth Habitat home sponsored by Old Bill’s.

Parking in Melody Ranch is limited so carpooling and bike riding is encouraged. Participants can meet at 8:45 am on Saturday, May 7 in the southwest corner of the Albertson’s parking lot to carpool to the build site.

Lunch and drinks will be provided for all who attend. To reserve a spot and to get directions, please contact Terri Marino at 734-0828, extension 1, or terri@tetonhabitat.org.

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area builds basic homes and sells them at cost with a no-interest loan to low-income families. Homeowners are chosen based on their need for housing, their ability to make a mortgage payment, and their willingness to invest 500 hours of ‘sweat equity’ into the construction of their home. Habitat homes are built primarily by volunteers and with the support of local donors.
