Denim Insulation Installed

Teton County 4-H clubs lends Hands to help Habitat for Humanity

On Saturday, April 15th Teton County 4-H Civil Service club volunteered on the Teton Habitat for Humanity construction site in Alpine. The Civil Service club is dedicated to improving the community through service projects. The 4H’ s are Head, Heart, Hands and Health — volunteering with Habitat improved the members Hand and Heart H’s.

The group spent the day working in two team insulating the Ultratouch denim insulation that was donated by Cotton Incorporated Blue Jeans Go Green program. The Habitat ReStore collected the denim after the holidays from community members, businesses, and thrift stores during their annual Denim Drive for insulation. After the drive, the 1578 pounds of denim was then shipped to Arizona to be processed into Ultratouch insulation. Denim insulation is much more volunteer friendly and is great for the environment, which is why Teton Habitat choose to use the product.

The 4-H club started insulating the Ultratouch on the exterior walls at 9AM, working out team dynamic and best cutting practices. By 4:05 both Alpine Meadow homes were insulated and ready for dry wall! From the Community Denim Drive, to the 4-H volunteer group, the insulation on the Alpine Meadow Habitat for Humanity homes was truly a community effort!
