Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area (Teton Habitat) has been awarded a $75,000 Housing Solutions Initiative grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole to support the launch of a home repair and refurbishment pilot program, expanding Habitat’s long-standing commitment to stable, affordable housing in Teton County.

The grant will fund Habitat Builds, a pilot refurbishment program focused initially on supporting existing Teton Habitat homeowners with critical home repairs. Over time, the organization aims to grow the program into a broader, community-wide resource addressing housing preservation and long-term affordability.

This funding was awarded as part of the Community Foundation’s 2025 Catalyst Grants, which support innovative, systems-changing approaches to complex local challenges such as affordable housing.

“Safe, stable housing doesn’t end at the front door on move-in day,” said Kris Greenville, Chief Operating Officer, at Teton Habitat. “This pilot program recognizes that maintaining a home over time is essential to long-term stability, especially for families working hard to stay rooted in this community.”

Habitat Builds represents a new program for Teton Habitat, and the organization is taking a thoughtful, phased approach. The pilot phase will allow staff to refine systems, partnerships, and capacity before opening the program more broadly to the community.

“We’re being very intentional about starting small and building this program responsibly,” Jason Bruni, Development Manager, added. “Our goal is long-term impact; not just addressing immediate repairs, but creating a sustainable model that helps preserve affordable housing in Teton County for generations.”

The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole’s Catalyst Grants prioritize projects with strong systems-change potential, and Habitat Builds was selected for its focus on housing preservation - a growing need as homes age and costs rise.

In addition to grant funding, Teton Habitat emphasizes that consistent community support remains critical to advancing its mission. Ongoing donations help the organization unlock the full value of challenge and match grants, sustain existing programs, and continue building affordable homes for local workforce families.

“Grants like this one are powerful catalysts, but they work best when paired with steady community giving,” said Bruni. “Consistent support allows us to leverage these opportunities fully and reinvest directly back into the community through new homes, home repairs, and long-term housing stability.”

For 30 years, Teton Habitat has empowered families through homeownership, providing 0% interest, 30-year mortgages with no money down, comprehensive homebuyer education, and full support throughout the process. Notably, no Teton Habitat homeowner has ever defaulted on their mortgage.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity found its earliest inspirations as a grassroots movement on an interracial community farm in south Georgia. Since its founding in 1976, the Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
