Habitat Builds
A home is a foundation for stability, security, and a future in the community. That’s why Teton Habitat is expanding its work beyond building new homes.
Through Habitat Builds, we are helping preserve safe, stable, and affordable housing in Teton County through home repair and refurbishment. Habitat Builds is a new program focused on addressing critical home repair needs and protecting the long-term affordability of Habitat homes in our community.
Habitat Builds is currently available exclusively to homeowners who purchased or built their home through Teton Habitat. This is not a general home repair program for the public. As the program develops, Teton Habitat may explore opportunities to expand Habitat Builds to serve the broader community in the future.
What is
Habitat Builds?
Habitat Builds is Teton Habitat's home repair and preservation program.
A Habitat home is more than a house. It is a long-term investment in a family and in our community.
Launched as a pilot program, Habitat Builds currently focuses on supporting existing Teton Habitat homeowners with critical home repairs. The goal is to help families maintain safe, stable homes and protect the long-term investment they have made in homeownership.
As the program develops, Teton Habitat hopes to expand Habitat Builds into a broader community resource for housing preservation and home repair.
“Affordable housing” doesn't end when a family receives the keys. Maintaining a home over time is an essential part of long-term housing stability.
What Can Habitat Builds Help With?
Roof &
Exterior
Roofs, siding, doors, windows, gutters, and other exterior components.
Health &
Safety
Repairs that address conditions that could affect the health or safety of the household.
Plumbing &
Home Systems
Plumbing and other important systems needed to keep the home functioning properly.
Maintenance & Prevention
Maintenance that may help prevent a small issue from becoming a larger, more costly repair.
Important Note: Every project is different. Habitat Builds does not guarantee that every repair or maintenance request will be eligible for assistance.
How Habitat Builds Works

Oldest Habitat
Homes First
We’re starting with the oldest Habitat homes first which may need the most TLC.
Habitat is working through Habitat homes in order of age, starting with the oldest homes first. Your home repair will coincide with the age of your Habitat home. When your home is next in line, we’ll reach out to you.

Receive an Email Notification
Complete the request form by the deadline stated in the email.
Once your home is next in line, complete the form about the repair or maintenance concern in your Habitat home. You don’t need to know what’s causing the problem or whether it qualifies for Habitat Builds.

Let's Take
a Look
We’ll learn more
about the concern.
A Teton Habitat staff member will talk with you about the issue and, when appropriate, visit your home to better understand what may be needed.

We'll Determine
the Next Step
Every home and repair
is different.
We’ll evaluate the project based on the type of repair, urgency, health and safety concerns, the condition of the home, and the resources available through Habitat Builds. If the project is a good fit, repairs may be completed by Habitat staff, skilled volunteers, or professional contractors.
Need Emergency Help?
Habitat Builds is not an emergency repair service.
If you have an immediate emergency that threatens someone's safety or could cause significant damage to your home, contact the appropriate emergency or professional service first. For example, call 911 for emergencies or contact a qualified professional for urgent plumbing, electrical, heating, or other hazards. The sooner you repair an emergency or something faulty, the less likely it may escalate.
A Habitat Builds request can be submitted afterward if appropriate.

Teton Habitat is working with Habitat homeowners in order of the age of their homes, starting with the oldest homes first. The oldest homes may be in need of the most TLC. If your home is next in line, we’ll reach out to you directly.

Community Support
Habitat Builds was launched with support from a $75,000 Housing Solutions Initiative grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, awarded through its 2025 Catalyst Grants.
The Catalyst Grants support innovative approaches to complex local challenges, including affordable housing. Habitat Builds was selected for its potential to address housing preservation as homes age and the cost of repairs continues to rise.
Teton Habitat is taking a thoughtful, phased approach to the program. The pilot phase allows the organization to refine its systems, partnerships, and capacity before expanding the program more broadly.
The goal is not simply to address today's repairs. It is to develop a sustainable model for preserving affordable housing in Teton County for generations to come.
